# Ally Coherence

An Ally's Coherence profile makes its intended reasoning and interaction behavior measurable. The controlling Source and applicable Realm Authority set the profile within system boundaries.

## Presence relationship

Presence provides instructions such as “be candid and intellectually challenging.” Coherence expresses testable desired outcomes such as directness `+45`, agreement tendency `-30`, and epistemic humility `+30`. The Sentinel observes output, estimates state, and can append a temporary modulation directive when authorized.

The profile does not replace Presence. Durable changes to instructions are versioned Presence changes; temporary Coherence modulation is scoped to the assessed dimension, context, and expiry.

## Permitted responses

- Observe and ask at low confidence.
- Suggest or explain drift.
- Inject a bounded context directive such as “surface one substantive disagreement before agreeing.”
- Re-run or revise a draft response before external delivery.
- Correct behavior inside a standing Source/Realm grant.
- Escalate repeated drift or a boundary conflict.

The Sentinel may not secretly change the Ally's purpose, model, Connections, Abilities, memory, budget, or Authority. Any material enduring behavior change is visible and reviewable.

Ally observations about a Source remain private, purpose-bound, and consented. Relationship continuity does not create permission to build an undisclosed psychological dossier.
