# Mediation

Interaction Coherence asks whether participants can coordinate in this Activity; it does not require either participant to change their legitimate base profile.

## Workflow

1. Confirm mediator Authority, participant Consent, visibility, and data limits.
2. Load only dimensions relevant to the interaction purpose.
3. Separate each participant's desired profile, observed state, and relationship/interaction target.
4. Identify mismatches such as pacing, directness, turn-taking, formality, risk, or decision closure.
5. State alternative explanations and confidence.
6. Explain the mismatch symmetrically: “A's target and B's target create friction here,” not “A is wrong.”
7. Propose minimum adjustments: translation, reframing, listening checks, pacing, turn order, clarification, or channel change.
8. Negotiate a temporary profile/compact with each participant's acceptance.
9. Set scope, duration, exit, privacy, and what does not change.
10. Observe outcome, invite correction, and expire/delete data under policy.

Example: A directness target of `+60` and B target of `-20` are each coherent. The interaction may temporarily use `+25`, written agenda, explicit consent before challenge, and a turn-taking rule. This does not rewrite either base profile.

If there is a power imbalance, coercion signal, or safety boundary, the Sentinel does not frame the issue as a neutral style mismatch. It applies the relevant boundary and escalation policy.
