A COMPLETE ENAMEL COSMOLOGY

System 12 · First edition · 24 August 2026

The Tao

Seventy-five small enamel windows into the movement of reality—where form and emptiness, stillness and motion, yielding and resistance continually become one another.

“The Tao is not a set of answers. It is the pattern through which opposites continually become one another.”
75unique tiles
5cosmological levels
302typed relations
The complete collection of 75 hand-worked enamel Tao oracle tiles
Complete first editionSeventy-five distinct faces in one material language.

THE GOVERNING PRINCIPLE

No fixed answer.
A living relation.

Every tile carries one capacity through Gift, Shadow, Excess, Deficiency, and Return. Dark is not bad. Light is not good. Water nourishes and floods; Mountain shelters and obstructs. A reading asks what the force does here, at this intensity, for this duration, in relation to what.

FIVE LEVELS

From the unnamed source
to the living image.

The roster moves from cosmological depth into natural and practical encounter without flattening Taoism into a list of motivational concepts.

0110 tiles

The Source

Tao, Wu, Being, Non-Being, One, Two, the ten thousand things, Return, Emptiness, and Mystery. The most spacious faces hold the deepest principles.

TRANSFORMATION + STRUCTURE

Five phases.
Eight trigrams.

Generation does not always help; it can overfeed. Control does not always harm; it can regulate. Trigram geometry is read bottom to top and generates the image rather than captioning it.

Orientation without fixation.

SHADOW

The nameless way is reduced to a doctrine, brand, or answer.

EXCESS

DEFICIENCY

Every event is treated as isolated and controllable.

RETURN

QuestionWhat changes when I stop demanding that the whole be nameable?

ActionDelay the verdict. Observe one full cycle before intervening.

MOVEMENT

A claim, object, or intention withdraws and capacity appears.

GIFT

Freedom from capture.

Absence is mistaken for nihilism or neglect.

Erasure strips away necessary form and care.

DEFICIENCY

No room remains for emergence.

RETURN

Remove only what blocks responsiveness; keep the vessel.

Something must become concrete now, but it need not become permanent.

GIFT

Specificity, contact, and usable form.

SHADOW

Form mistakes itself for the whole.

ActionGive the next step a name, boundary, and duration.

A form has completed its usefulness; its absence may be generative.

GIFT

Renewal through unfixing.

SHADOW

The unmanifest is romanticized as superior to embodied life.

DEFICIENCY

Nothing is allowed to end, empty, or become unknown.

A visible opening can invite relation, but it is a moment, not the final result.

GIFT

Beauty, invitation, recognition, and timely openness.

SHADOW

Appearance is confused with maturity, worth, or guaranteed fruit.

EXCESS

Display consumes the plant and seeks permanent spring.

DEFICIENCY

Closedness prevents exchange and recognition.

RETURN

Open for the season; release the bloom when its work is done.

QuestionWhat is ready to be shown without being mistaken for completion?

ActionShare the work at its present stage; name what is still becoming.

RELATIONS
Fruit hand-worked enamel oracle tile
069 · The Living Patterns

Fruit

Ripened consequence: nourishment and seed carried together at the end of a growth cycle.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

A single jade-and-cinnabar fruit hangs low; one cut reveals a dark seed inside.

MOVEMENT

Growth concentrates into an offering that also carries another beginning.

DIVINATION

A consequence is ready to be received. Ask who is fed and what future it carries.

GIFT

Harvest, generosity, consequence, and continuation.

SHADOW

Outcome becomes possession, status, or proof of personal control.

EXCESS

Ripeness turns to hoarding and rot because nothing is shared.

DEFICIENCY

The cycle is harvested too early or never allowed to mature.

RETURN

Take what nourishes, distribute the surplus, and return the seed.

QuestionWhat part is nourishment, and what part must be replanted?

ActionHarvest, share, and save one seed.

RELATIONS
Decay hand-worked enamel oracle tile
070 · The Living Patterns

Decay

Form loosening into smaller relations so stored material can re-enter the world.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

A dark fruit skin opens into gold-brown fragments, fungi-like enamel dots, and exposed earth.

MOVEMENT

Structure breaks down; boundaries soften; nutrients and memory redistribute.

DIVINATION

An ending is materially active. Grieve, protect, and allow transformation.

GIFT

Release, humility, decomposition, and transition.

SHADOW

Loss is aestheticized or used to excuse preventable neglect.

EXCESS

Breakdown outruns containment and spreads harm.

DEFICIENCY

Nothing is allowed to end, soften, or return its materials.

RETURN

Contain what can harm; let completed form enter a new cycle.

QuestionWhat is finished, and what can it now feed?

ActionStop preserving one dead form; place its useful parts into a new context.

RELATIONS
Compost hand-worked enamel oracle tile
071 · The Living Patterns

Compost

Collaborative transformation of discarded matter into fertile, altered ground.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

Layered brown, green, and black enamel fragments warm around a small gold core; steam rises.

MOVEMENT

Many remnants break down together through time, moisture, heat, and air.

DIVINATION

The question is not how to restore the old form, but how its remnants can become ground.

GIFT

Regeneration, integration, and value recovered from endings.

SHADOW

“Everything is useful” denies grief, toxicity, or what must be discarded safely.

EXCESS

The heap overheats, putrefies, or receives material it cannot transform.

DEFICIENCY

Sterility and separation prevent any remnant from becoming nourishment.

RETURN

Balance the mixture; aerate; remove what the process cannot safely hold.

QuestionWhat can be transformed here, and what requires separate handling?

ActionSort the remnants; combine only what can change together.

RELATIONS
Silence hand-worked enamel oracle tile
072 · The Living Patterns

Silence

An interval without imposed speech in which subtler signals can appear.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

A wide black enamel field holds one fading silver vibration near the rim.

MOVEMENT

Expression ceases; attention changes scale.

DIVINATION

Do not fill the interval automatically. Also ask whose silence is chosen and whose is enforced.

GIFT

Listening, rest, privacy, and unforced understanding.

SHADOW

Silence conceals harm, withholds needed truth, or imposes exclusion.

EXCESS

Absence of speech becomes control and isolates the unheard.

DEFICIENCY

Continuous noise prevents reflection and reception.

RETURN

Keep silence where it makes room; break it where relationship or safety requires truth.

QuestionWhat becomes audible here, and what truth is being withheld?

ActionHold one quiet interval; then say the one necessary thing.

RELATIONS
Sound hand-worked enamel oracle tile
073 · The Living Patterns

Sound

Vibration made shareable: expression traveling through a medium and altering what receives it.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

One brass line leaves a dark bell-like hollow and becomes widening uneven ripples.

MOVEMENT

Stored breath becomes tone, message, resonance, and fading.

DIVINATION

A message matters, but its effect depends on tone, timing, medium, and reception.

GIFT

Communication, warning, music, and mutual attunement.

SHADOW

Expression becomes noise, performance, manipulation, or echo.

EXCESS

Volume overwhelms meaning and erases response.

DEFICIENCY

A needed signal never reaches the field.

RETURN

Sound once, then listen for what the medium returns.

QuestionWhat needs to be voiced once and then allowed to resonate?

ActionSay it plainly; do not repeat until you have listened.

RELATIONS
Shadow hand-worked enamel oracle tile
074 · The Living Patterns

Shadow

Evidence of relation between light, form, and position: neither substance nor mere absence.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

An unseen form is known only by a soft black shape crossing moon-white enamel.

MOVEMENT

Illumination meets an obstacle and reveals its contour indirectly.

DIVINATION

Something is being inferred from indirect evidence. Separate contour from story.

GIFT

Depth, contrast, privacy, and recognition of what a self-image excludes.

SHADOW

The unknown is treated as evil, or projection is mistaken for fact.

EXCESS

Suspicion fills every dark shape with invented motive.

DEFICIENCY

Flat self-certainty denies consequence, occlusion, and unseen parts.

RETURN

Move the light, inspect the form, and own the projection.

QuestionWhat do I observe, and what am I projecting into it?

ActionWrite the observation without motive; change the angle of light.

RELATIONS
Mirror hand-worked enamel oracle tile
075 · The Living Patterns

Mirror

Reflective relation that reveals a view, reverses it, and never contains the whole thing reflected.

Open complete tile
IMAGE

A dark silver mirror holds half a moon and an open edge; its surface includes one deliberate distortion.

MOVEMENT

An image returns through angle, surface, and light.

DIVINATION

A reflection is offering useful feedback, but it is partial and reversed.

GIFT

Self-recognition, feedback, comparison, and reversal of view.

SHADOW

Reflection becomes vanity, surveillance, imitation, or mistaken identity.

EXCESS

The image replaces the living relation and endless checking prevents action.

DEFICIENCY

Feedback is refused; blind spots remain protected.

RETURN

Use reflection as information, then turn back toward the world.

QuestionWhat does this reflection reveal—and what can it never show?

ActionReceive one piece of feedback; verify it in lived conditions.

THE RELATIONSHIP GRAPH

The cards behave
like the Tao.

No tile stands alone. Every node transforms, balances, completes, supports, generates, controls, reflects, contains, or returns toward another. The graph is published in JSON and Graphviz formats so the system can become a reading interface, spatial map, game, or evolving knowledge object.
